Cookie Policy
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Covergard™ uses strictly necessary (essential) cookies that the site cannot work without, and a small set of optional personalisation cookies that are only set once you accept them, and a separate set of optional analytics cookies that measure how the shop is used. We do not use advertising cookies, and no cookie data is ever sold. Analytics data is processed for us in the EU by PostHog, and only once you accept that category.
Optional cookies are off until you accept them, and you can change your answer whenever you like. Declining deletes anything already stored.
Essential
Set automatically and required for core features such as signing in, holding a cart, and protecting form submissions. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site.
Authentication
Session / 30 daysKeeps you signed in to your account as you move between pages and across browser sessions.
Shopping cart
SessionHolds the items you have added to your cart so they are still there while you browse.
Security
SessionProtects form submissions against cross-site request forgery, so only requests you made are processed.
Cookie choice (cg_consent)
6 monthsStores whether you accepted or declined optional cookies. Without it we would have to ask you on every page.
Optional: personalisation
Set only after you accept them, and deleted as soon as you decline. They hold references to what you looked at and how you had the shop set up, never personal details or prices.
Recently viewed (cg_recent)
30 daysThe last eight covers you opened, so you can pick up where you left off. Product references only, no prices and no personal details.
Sort order (cg_shop)
90 daysThe way you last sorted the shop, so the catalogue opens the way you left it.
Dismissed notices (cg_seen_ann)
6 monthsWhich site notice you closed, so the same announcement does not come back on your next visit.
Optional: analytics
Set only after you accept them, and deleted as soon as you decline. They let us count visits and see where checkout goes wrong. Set by PostHog, who process the data for us in the EU, with everything you type masked before it leaves your browser.
PostHog (ph_...)
12 monthsCounts a visit once rather than twice, and links the pages of one visit together, so we can see where people give up before checkout. Set by PostHog, our analytics provider, and stored in the EU.
Session recording
SessionRecords how the pages behaved during your visit, to show us what broke. Everything you type is masked before it leaves your browser, so no name, email, address, or payment detail is ever recorded.
Managing Cookies
Optional cookies are controlled from the cookie preferences panel, reachable from the link at the bottom of every page or the button below. Turning personalisation off records your choice and deletes the optional cookies already stored on your device.
You may also configure your browser to block or delete cookies at any time. Blocking essential cookies will prevent authentication, cart persistence, and other core features from working correctly.
For questions about our cookie usage, please contact us at marketing@covergard.co.za.
Google Sign-In
What We Receive
If you choose to sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We request no other Google data: we never access your Gmail, contacts, calendar, Drive files or any other Google service.
How We Use It
That information is used solely to create your Covergard™ account, sign you in, and show your name and profile picture in your account area. Your email address is also used to send order confirmations and account notices.
How We Store & Share It
Your account details are stored in our authentication database, protected in transit and at rest. We do not sell your Google account data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or any purpose unrelated to running your Covergard™ account.
Withdrawing Access
You can disconnect Covergard™ at any time from your Google Account permissions page, and you can ask us to delete your Covergard™ account and the data held against it by contacting us.
